Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
